The Senate Curriculum Committee moves the adoption of the following program change.

School of Business:
The current calendar states:
            Certificate in Business Administration (30h)
The program is currently under revision by the School of Business Administration in conjunction with the Division of Continuing and Distance Education.
The last calendar description for the Certificate was in the 2001/2002 calendar:
Busi 1013, 1703 and 24h business electives. The director may approve any of the following for business electives: Econ 1013/1023 or 1006; Econ 2613; Math 1613 or Math 1013; Comm 1213/1223.
 
Proposed change:
Certificate in Business Fundamentals (30h)
Busi 1703, 2053, 2153, 2213, 2413, 2753; Comm 1213; Econ 1013/1023 or 1006; Comp 1813.
Note: With the exception of Busi 1703, none of the Business courses or Comp 1813 are transferable to the BBA program.

The Faculty Development Committee gives notice of motion that the mandate of the
committee as listed in Article VIII (o) be amended to read as follows:
 
VIII (o)            FACULTY DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
 
            i           The membership of the Faculty Development Committee shall be elected in                                accordance with Article VI. 1. and shall be as follows:
 
One member of the Faculty of Arts
One member of the Faculty of Professional Studies
One member of the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences
One member of the Faculty of Theology
 
            ii          The Mission Statement of the Faculty Development Committee:
 
The mission of the FDC is to contribute to the success and development of Acadia University Faculty in the areas of teaching, research and overall professional development.
 
 
            iii          The duties of the Faculty Development Committee shall be:
 
- to serve as a liaison between Faculty, Senate, and other resources available at this university (such as the AITT and Graduate and Research Studies)
- to act as a directory for development resources
- to serve as a link to external faculty development resources
- to work as a feedback loop among the various resources and faculty
- to collect faculty ideas and develop suggestions to meet faculty development
needs

The Committee places in nomination Dr. Herb Wyile as Secretary to Faculty. If approved, Dr. Wyile will serve to June 30, 2004 as a replacement for Dr. Jessica Slights who is currently on leave.
